Market Analysis Steering Committee Formed
10/6 Meeting Summary

Last night 15 people attended the follow-up meeting to the Economic Revitalization workshop on Sept. 25. People were informed that $9,000 had been committed by local businesses for hiring an outside consultant to conduct a market analysis. The goal is to raise $12,500 and ask the town to match it. Area non-profits have been asked to contribute as well.

Therefore everyone is encouraged to attend the Town Board of Trustees budget workshop tonight (Tuesday, Oct. 7) from 5-7 p.m. at the community center and advocate that the town match the business community’s funds for hiring a firm to conduct a market analysis.

A steering committee was formed to accomplish the following tasks:
– develop a Request for Proposals (RFP)
– send it out
– review proposals and select ones to interview
– interview and select outside consulting firm to conduct market analysis

The group recommended a diversity of membership including the town board, chamber, resident, land owner, business owners (small and large). The following individuals agreed to serve on this committee: BJ Ball, Teresa Warren, Sara Deyo, John McCracken, Chris Perret and Chad Jacobs. In addition, the town will be asked to appoint a member and additional land owners will be invited (Will Guercio, Mike Verplank, Walt Seely and Wendy Beggs). A key part of serving on this committee is the ability to make all meetings. The goal is to do the above tasks in short time frame.

The steering committee will meet on Monday, October 20, 7-9 p.m. in the community center. At appropriate times the steering committee will invite the larger group of interested parties to attend a meeting to hear an update and solicit input.

Ted Weaver agreed to write a draft RFP by Monday. Sara Deyo agreed to write a letter to the editor keeping the community informed.

The meeting ended early at 8:15 which enabled the Red Sox fans to celebrate a rare post season victory!
