10am - 5pm
Nederland Town Square
The 11th Annual High Peaks Art Festival will be June 25-26, from 10 Am to 5 Pm. This year's Featured non-profit is Wild Bear Nature Center of Nederland.
Highlights for 2011.
"Fluting from the Heart"
Exhibiting at High Peaks Art Festival for the first time is flute maker Rick Gnerich from Patagonia, Arizona. Rick's flutes are made from North American woods only - cedar, birch and walnut; many with turquoise inlays.
Rick will be teaching about the flute, the history of fluting in North America and playing flutes throughout the weekend. His non-amplified music has been a welcome addition to other Colorado art festivals in Salida, Carbondale and Frisco.
Wild Bear Mountain Ecology Center
Each year, High Peaks Art Festival chooses one Nederland non-profit to feature at the event. This year it is Wild Bear. Their booth will have fun and free activities on both days:
10:00am ñ Noon - Wild Clay Creatures: Work with the earth to create small animal fetishes to take home. Learn about their meanings through the eyes of Native Americans.
1:00pm ñ 3:00pm - Paint your own Earth Flags, using natural dyes.
10:00am ñ Noon - Watercolor painting: Draw and paint wild nature, then mount your work to take home!
Noon ñ 2:00pm - Earth Sculptures: Study the works of Andy Goldsworthy and create your own sculptures using clay, sticks and rocks.

again this year by the Nederland Downtown Development Authority
during Sunday, June 26th of the High Peaks Art Festival. Look for the
NDDA booth on the south side of the Nederland Visitor Center.
