Mountain People’s Co-op started in the spring of 1979, on the porch of a house, as a bulk food-buying club,
with 10 members. In 1981 we moved to our storefront location and began selling to the general public. In 1993, because
of special membership support, the Co-op was able to purchase the building that now houses the Mountain People’s
Co-op. Today… Serving over 400 member households, the success of the Co-op comes from its working members
who volunteer their time in a variety of jobs. The Mountain People’s Co-op is operated by four paid managers
and assistant managers. Decision making rests with a Board of Directors chosen by the general membership, as well as
input from committees and membership suggestions.Open to the public 7 days a week
summer hours: 9am to 8pm
winter hours: 9am to 7pm
