Magnolia Pottery has been located in Nederland since 1978 and was named for the Magnolia mining claim where the first kiln and studio were located. At that time pots were sold along the roadside. Now Magnolia Pottery has a permanent home with the retail space, studio and kiln all in one building. Visitors can see pots in various stages of production.

About the Potter:
Catherine Horowitz began her pottery career at the Art Students League in N.Y.C. Moving to Japan in 1970, she studied with a master potter for three years. After receiving the honorary name of her teacher, she set up her own studio in Fukuiken, Japan. Since returning from Japan Catherine joined Magnolia Pottery.

About the Pots:
The stamp Catherine uses to mark her pots was given to her by her Japanese teacher. She uses a stoneware clay which is fired to 2400°F, making her pottery oven, microwave, and dishwasher safe. All glazes are lead-free.
